The 2013 Tire Rack One Lap of America Presented by Grassroots Motorsports Magazine rolled into South Carolina to take to the Carolina Motorsports Park today. A long time staple of the Tire Rack One Lap of America, Carolina Motorsports Park is a fun track that rewards patience and precision. With curbing that is far from inviting, precision and smooth driving would be the order of the day.

Soon after that order was given one of the vehicles dropped a tire on the slippery grass and rearranged a tire wall. With the driver climbing from his car unscathed the One Lap family kicked into action. Immediately members from rival teams swarmed on the stricken car bringing their skill sets and tools to help mend it. In no time at all the car was ready, albeit with a few less drive wheels, and was in place on the grid for the afternoons run session.

With the rest of the session running smoothly and completed without any further incident the competition made it’s way to the BMW Performance Factory in Spartanburg. At the Performance Factory the competitors took to the BMW Performance Test Track in standard One Lap format. A challenge for the competition, this track is a very technical course with very little margin for error. A tight course lined with cones this course demands precision. Compounding the need for precision is the penalty assessed for hitting cones, one bad corner can knock you down a position or two.

Once the competitors completed their runs they headed out for Danville Virginia, the home for the next challenge of the Tire Rack One Lap of America, Virginia International Raceway.
